"Macedonians and Persians should live as brothers and sisters" are the words of Alexander according to Arrian.
It seems, that Alexander was on the way do establish an empire based on equality not on the dominance of one ethnic nation, that of the Macedonians. The conservative Macedonian nationalist faction around Alexander probably opposed him in this endeavour and might eventually killed him. Nationalism for the first time led to the decline of Macedon.
Being a Macedonian is one thing, the organization of a State another. Separation of State and Nation should be a basic principle for Macedonians in order to avoid a new, second decline of Macedon because of nationalism.
If we apply the principle of Alexander to the Macedonians living in Germany, following 9 criteria might be deduced in order to answer the question, what does it mean, to be a Macedonian?
